One of rail’s most sought-after specialists, Malcolm’s vast career has spanned over 40 years in railway fleet operations, rolling stock, depots, maintenance, engineering, business and complex international rail projects. He has a first class honours degree in mechanical engineering and is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. In his background he has held numerous frontline technical and general management positions within a variety of train operating companies (TOCs) and various leasing company (ROSCO) engineering and business positions, before then entering consulting in which he has engaged in a huge range of transformational rail projects.

Key projects have included: McNulty VfM, ROSCOs competition inquiry, Thameslink, InterCity Express Programme (IEP), Crossrail, HS2, ERTMS, and multiple franchising, train procurement and M&A projects.

Out of office: Malcolm continues his passion for the outdoors and enjoys mountain biking and working on the land. Ever a practical engineer, he is always busy repairing and improving tractors and machinery!
